Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has issued a strong call to Hamas, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by the group.
Speaking in a firm tone, President Abbas emphasized that the continued detention of hostages undermines the Palestinian cause and prolongs the suffering of innocent civilians.
“Hamas must release all hostages without any conditions,” Abbas declared, signaling a rare public rift between the Palestinian Authority and the Gaza-based militant group.
The statement comes amid mounting international pressure for a ceasefire and humanitarian relief in Gaza, with growing calls for all parties to prioritize the lives of civilians and the path to peace.
Observers say Abbas’s bold stance may shift dynamics within Palestinian politics, placing renewed focus on diplomacy and the need for unified leadership.
