AAC Slams Gombe Govt Over Neglect of Billiri General Hospital, Tags Facility a ‘Death Trap’

Katsina state government

The African Action Congress AAC has issued a scathing condemnation of the Gombe State Government for allegedly abandoning the Billiri General Hospital, describing the facility as a “death trap” that poses a grave danger to the lives of citizens.

In a fiery statement on Monday, the party accused the state administration of gross negligence, revealing that the once-thriving hospital now lacks essential medical equipment, drugs, and qualified doctors. “This is a shameful reflection of misplaced priorities and total disregard for the health of the people of Billiri,” the AAC stated.

Eyewitness accounts and patient testimonials paint a grim picture—wards without beds, malfunctioning equipment, and a dire shortage of personnel. Locals say patients are often forced to travel long distances in search proper care, with some losing their lives before reaching help.

The AAC called on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to immediately declare a state of emergency on healthcare in the region, demanding urgent intervention to restore the facility to functional status.

“This is not just administrative failure; it is a silent massacre of the poor,” the party said.
