In a sweeping crackdown on criminal activities, Katsina State Command has made significant arrests across multiple high-profile cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and vandalism, reinforcing its commitment to public safety.
Kidnapping Racket Busted
Abubakar Nasiru, alias “Haro” from Daura, was rearrested after evidence linked him to a 2023 abduction in Kafur LGA. Nasiru confessed to a share in a hefty N13 million ransom and faces new charges, while efforts continue to track down his accomplices. Another suspect, Ibrahim Isah from Yana village, was nabbed for demanding a N1 million ransom after contacting the family of a missing person from Doro village. Both cases are under active investigation.
Deadly Kidnapping and Homicide
In collaboration with Gombe Police, Katsina officers apprehended 25-year-old Nasiru Sanusi, implicated in a deadly kidnapping scheme. Sanusi and associates reportedly killed his uncle after receiving N8 million and six bags of fertilizer in ransom. His arrest follows a statewide manhunt through Lagos, Taraba, and Gombe.
Street Crime Crackdown
Usman Abdulrahman, aka “Shoe Men,” was taken into custody on October 28 after a brutal machete attack in Filin Samji. Known for a spree of violent robberies, Abdulrahman confessed to multiple assaults, underscoring a dangerous trend of armed street crime in Katsina.
Homicide Among Family
A domestic altercation in Dutsinma LGA turned deadly when 16-year-old Nuhu Haruna reportedly struck his stepmother, leading to her death. The tragic case, now under investigation, reveals the need for increased conflict mediation resources.
Cable Theft Ring
Police also foiled a streetlight cable theft operation, arresting two suspects caught with tools and a tricycle in Kofar Sauri. Additional suspects remain at large as the investigation deepens.
Electric Transformer Vandalism
Another operation led to the arrest of Mansir Musa, 25, known for targeting electric transformers across Ingawa LGA. His accomplices, active in Katsina and Kano, are still at large.
These arrests mark a robust response by the Katsina State Command, as officers intensify efforts to apprehend remaining suspects and bring justice to affected communities.
