For over a week now, Arewa has languished in darkness, yet the silence is deafening. No statement, no urgency, no collective outcry from our leaders, northern groups, or influential elders. This prolonged blackout isn’t just a power outage—it’s a glaring sign of our neglect, and it reflects a painful truth: we tend to care only about issues that personally affect us.

Imagine the outcry if this darkness covered Lagos or Abuja. Northern politicians would likely take to the airwaves, calling the Federal Government’s attention to the crisis. Yet when it affects our own region, we remain unbothered. Where are the voices of our leaders? Where is the action from our influential elders’ forums?
