World Food Day Celebration: Zamfara First Lady Urges NAWIA To Redouble Efforts

Wife of the Zamfara state Governor, Hajiya Huriya Dauds Lawal has urged the Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture NAWIA to redouble effort in the all season farming in order to bost food security in the state.

Marking the World Food Day Celebration in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, Huriya pledged to give all necessary support to the women in Agriculture to Excel.

According to her, the administration of her husband, Dauda Lawal has special interest in assisting women to actively engaged in agricultre.

“Zamfara is known for farming, so Women ought to be actively involved in the food production in the state”, She stressed.

The Governor’s wife therefore, urged local government chapters to bring what thay produced to her office.

In her remarks, the state coordinator of the association Hajiya Shema’u Nalado thanked the first Lady for her concern and support being given to the NAWIA.

She further explained that, women are the backbone, interms of agriculture, stressing that 70 per cent of women engaged in farming.

She thanked members for their cooperation to the feeding of the people and called for more commitments.
