The Borno State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Lawal Yusufu, has successfully re-arrested a 24-year-old escaped convict, Auwalu Aminu, also known as “Auwalu Kirkir.”

Aminu, originally convicted for criminal conspiracy and theft, escaped from the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri after a flood in September 2024 caused the facility’s fence to collapse. Following a tip-off, police surveillance at the Bama Area Command/Banki Divisional Headquarters located and swiftly apprehended Aminu in Banki town on October 16.
