Senator Ali Ndume has raised alarm over the rampant corruption in Nigeria’s political sphere, accusing many politicians of amassing wealth through dubious means.
Speaking candidly, he remarked, “It’s only in this country that someone who had no money yesterday suddenly buys 10 cars and jets, and their family celebrates them.”
Ndume emphasized that Nigeria’s greatest challenge is the lack of effective laws to tackle corruption. “If someone in our system isn’t corrupt, it’s because they are lucky to be God-fearing,” he stated, highlighting the need for an “Unexplained Wealth Act” to hold individuals accountable for their sudden fortunes.
He expressed concern over the country’s struggles, saying, “There is hunger in the land, yet we haven’t cultivated even five per cent of our vast arable land.”
His call for reforms rings louder as Nigerians grapple with economic hardship, while corrupt politicians continue to thrive unchecked.
