Governor Radda Orders Swift Action to Prevent Floods in 7 LGAs

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has called for immediate action to avert the dangers of heavy rainfall and potential flooding in seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The directive comes in response to a NiMET report predicting heavy downpours in the affected regions.

Governor Radda tasked the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari, with convening a critical meeting of key stakeholders to intensify efforts to mitigate any unfortunate outcomes.

The SGS emphasized the need for proactive measures to protect Funtua, Bakori, Bindawa, Kaita, Katsina, Jibia, and Daura from possible flooding.

Agencies like the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the State Emergency Protection Agency (SEPA) have been urged to increase their preparedness and public awareness campaigns.

Barrister Faskari highlighted that swift coordination between stakeholders, including top government officials and emergency agencies, would help reduce the impact of the anticipated heavy rains.
