China Affords Bauchi Students Free Scholarships

FIVE exceptional indigenous students of Bauchi state have been awarded full scholarships to pursue undergraduate degrees at top universities in China, courtesy of the efforts of visionary leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of the state.

The milestone, according to a press statement by the State Ministry of Education, is a direct result of the Governor’s collaborative efforts with the Shangdon Provincial International Sister Cities Scholarship program, aimed at promoting academic excellence and global education.

The statement signed by the education ministry’s information officer, Jalaludeen Usman explained that the scholarship program was initiated by Governor Bala Mohammed, where One best performing student in the 2023 WAEC and NECO examinations was identified from each of the 20  Local Government Areas in the state.

“After a rigorous selection process, five students have secured admission to their chosen programs, while 15 others are still in the process of securing their placements into the Chinese Universities”, Usman said

Malam Jalaludeen Usman gave the scholarship benefitting students as Aisha Yunusa Ahmad from Jama’are LGA; Hussaina Yakubu from Warji LGA; Abdullahi Abdulrahman Sudais from Ningi LGA; Godfrey Yohana from Bogoro LGA, as well as Khalil Muhammad Makama from Bauchi LGA of the state.

The information officer further explained that four of the students will study Clinical Medicine at Shangdon Second Medical University, while Khalil Makama will pursue a degree in Computer Science and Technology at Liaocheng University.

During a farewell ceremony at the Ministry of Education in Bauchi, the students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his unwavering commitment to education and educational opportunities for the citizens of Bauchi state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru Mohammed and other ministry’s officials at the occasion were also commended for their efforts in facilitating the scholarship award

Dr. Jamila Mohammed said, “This achievement is a testament to Governor Bala Mohammed’s dedication to promoting education and providing opportunities for the indigenous people of the state”.

“The students’ success is a source of inspiration for others, and their achievements will undoubtedly contribute to the development of the state and the nation at large”, Jalaludeen concluded.
