Local Government Workers and Primary School Teachers in Katsina State have a cause to smile as the Supervising Commissioner of Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Bishir Tanimu Gambo prioritised the payment of their monthly salaries hopefully to be paid not later than 25th of every month.
The Commissioner disclosed this at a meeting with the management of the Ministry after his assumption of duty on Thursday the 29th August, 2024.
Alhaji Bishir Tanimu Gambo expressed concern over the delay being experienced in the payment of salaries for Local Government Workers and Primary School Teachers under SUBEB and reiterated his commitment to work with the Management of the Ministry to investigate the causes of the delay and proper solution.
He described the role being played by Local Government Workers particularly Primary School Teachers as very vital to the society which can not be over emphasised.
The Commissioner emphasied that the Ministry will not like to overshoot the target date of 25th of every month as directed by the Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda.
He assured Primary School Teachers under SUBEB that the Ministry will start investing on how and where the delay comes as a result of how they get their salaries.
Similarly, the Supervising Commissioner assured that the Ministry will investigate other areas of motivation for the Teachers to have the required energy and sound knowledge that will make them good teachers and have product that will graduate as the best amongst the 36 states of the federation.
He also assured that during his short stay things will be put in proper perspective that who ever comes as Substantive Commissioner of the Ministry will continue on the good putting he met.
Bishir Tanimu therefore urged Members of the management of the Ministry to unite and support the renewed move for better result.
Earlier, the Ag Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Rabi’u Gide briefed the Commissioner on issues related to the Ministry.
The appointment of Hon. Bishir Tanimu Gambo as the Supervising Commissioner for the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is an interim measure pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner for the ministry.
The position of Commissionership of the Ministry followed the recent appointment of the Prof. Badamasi Lawal Charanchi as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Program Agency (NSIPA) President
Hon. Bishir Tanimu Gambo will oversee the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs while maintaining his responsibilities as Commissioner for Finance.
