Prof. Bakori Leads Katsina’s Agri-Revolution

The Katsina State Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Bakori has been commended for his efforts in implementing the policies and programmes of the Dikko Radda administration aimed at transforming the state’s agricultural sector.

Speaking to newsmen in Katsina, a renowned politician from Bakori Local Government Area, Alhaji Ado Liti ‘Yankwani listed the programs to include the distribution of 20,000 metric tons of fertilizer to farmers to enhance farming and improve food security.

He listed other interventions to include the recruitment of 722 extension agents and the distribution of 722 motorcycles, insecticides and pesticides to the extension agents to ease their work.

Others, according to ‘Yankwani, include a collaboration with Chinese investors to mechanize agricultural practices in the state to facilitate large scale commercial farming which will create more jobs along the agric value chain.

“In addition to these, the Dikko Radda administration will also invest N30 billion in irrigation farming to ensure that farmers can farm throughout the year, thereby enhancing food security in the state.

“The governor will also establish agricultural mechanization centres in each of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, these centres would be utilised to train farmers in modern best practice in agricultural production in order to the benefit of the state”, Ado Liti ‘Yankwani said.

These achievements are connected with the governor’s academic background as an expert in agriculture and his decision to engage another seasoned academic in agriculture, Professor Ahmed Muhammad Bakori to assist his government in implementing farmer-oriented policies in the sector.
