In a bid to strengthen its fight against corruption, the Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has reached out to key security and judicial agencies for support.
On Thursday, the commission’s Executive Chairman, Justice Lawal Garba (retired), led a delegation on a familiarization tour across the Katsina State Police Command, the Shari’ah Court, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Justice Garba emphasized the need for collaboration, particularly with the police, highlighting the importance of undercover investigations conducted by officers not in uniform.
“We cannot accomplish our task without the police, especially those in the CID,” he stated, underscoring the commission’s role as a prosecution agency.
Responding to the request, State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, suggested incorporating retired police officers of high ranks to bolster the commission’s efforts.
He also promised to provide experienced investigators and ensure adequate security for the commission.
At the Katsina Shari’ah Court, the Grand Khadi, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Abubakar, pledged support and urged the commission to remain patient and dedicated in its work. The visit to the NSCDC highlighted the importance of building public confidence, with Commandant CC Jamilu Indabawa advising the commission to prioritize confidentiality, especially in whistleblower cases.
The series of visits marks a significant step in fostering inter-agency collaboration in Katsina’s ongoing battle against corruption.
