The Nigerian Army has officially inaugurated a new Theatre Training School and upgraded an existing facility in Maiduguri, Borno State, marking a significant step in its efforts to enhance combat effectiveness and address the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East region.
The Theatre Commander, General Waidi Shuaibu, announced this development during the graduation ceremony at Maimalari Cantonment on Saturday.
General Shuaibu emphasized the need for troops to rapidly adapt to evolving security threats through comprehensive training. “Our forces must be agile and prepared to respond swiftly to the ever-changing tactics of insurgents. We cannot afford to be complacent,” he stated.
He further explained that the newly established and upgraded facilities are designed to provide Nigerian troops with critical skills and knowledge to combat Boko Haram, bandits, and other security threats. Training will encompass human rights and rules of engagement, ensuring that the troops are not only effective but also uphold high ethical standards.
The commissioning ceremony saw the presence of top military officials who lauded General Shuaibu’s leadership and vision in advancing the army’s training capabilities.
This enhancement is a crucial milestone in the Nigerian Army’s ambition to achieve world-class status. The upgraded facilities will offer a modern learning environment, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and led by experienced instructors.
