Govs Back Living Wage for Workers – Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has clarified that state governors, under the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), fully support a living wage for Nigerian workers.

Addressing the 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji emphasized the NGF’s commitment to fiscal federalism, allowing states to meet their financial obligations independently.

“The NGF supports the concept of a living wage. No governor opposes the minimum wage.

However, it must align with fiscal federalism and each state’s financial capacity,” Oyebanji stated.

He urged Ekiti State civil servants to embrace agriculture, offering over 2,000 hectares of land free of charge to interested residents.

“Form cooperative societies and engage with the Ministry of Agriculture to support our agriculture revolution,” he encouraged.
