Nationwide Strike Halts High Court Hearing on Kano Emirate Dispute

Katsina state government

In a dramatic turn of events, the Federal High Court session presided over by Justice Abdullahi Liman, set to address the contentious Kano emirate dispute, has been postponed due to a nationwide strike.

Organized labor groups are demanding an increase in the minimum wage, causing widespread disruptions.

Justice Liman had previously instructed the State Police, Kano’s Commissioner of Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) to halt the implementation of the newly approved Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law.

This law, backed by the Kano State House of Assembly and Governor Abba Yusuf, remains in legal limbo as the labor strike takes center stage.
