President Bola Tinubu has made a passionate plea to the Arewa Consultative Forum to hold state governors accountable for the functionality of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Highlighting the critical role of local communities in the nation’s development, Tinubu emphasized the need for effective service delivery at the grassroots level.In his address, Tinubu stated, “We are running a constitutional democracy. I appeal to you to summon the governors.
People reside in the local communities where they work, farm, and live. If local governments are not effective, we must recalibrate our approach.
The question of out-of-school children is unacceptable.
Education is a tool against poverty, and we must develop the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, which is the education system.
“The President also addressed infrastructure decay and poverty in the north, stressing the importance of security and technological investment.
He urged the governors to make more land available for herders and promised federal support to grow Nigeria’s dairy industry.
Tinubu concluded by directing the establishment of a committee, led by Senator George Akume, to follow up on the meeting’s issues.
“We must tick the boxes on all that we must quickly do,” he asserted.
