Justice, Mercy: Radda Pardons 12 Inmates

In a move marking his first year in office, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has granted amnesty to 12 inmates, addressing overcrowding and emphasizing rehabilitation within the correctional system.

“This action reflects our commitment to both upholding the law and promoting a more just and rehabilitative correctional system,” said Governor Radda.

Under the Governor’s clemency powers, seven inmates received full pardons, including those previously sentenced to death and amputation.

Additionally, four death sentences were commuted to life imprisonment, and one life sentence was reduced to 10 years, all due to good conduct.

Governor Radda has tasked the Honorable Chief Judge of Katsina State with signing the release warrants.

This amnesty is part of a broader effort by the state government to improve prison conditions and foster rehabilitation.
