Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Saturday inspected ongoing construction works at the Damaturu Flyover and Underpass as well as the Damaturu–Gambir Road, expressing confidence in the progress made so far.

Governor Buni was joined on the inspection tour by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, along with top government officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, Commissioners for Works and Finance, Engr. Umar Dudaye and Alh. Mohammed Abacha, as well as the NEDC Executive Director, Dr. Garba Iliya.

During his visit to the flyover project, the governor commended the contractors for adhering to timelines and quality standards.“I am satisfied with both the quality and speed of work. Once completed, this project will ease traffic congestion in the city centre and reduce the flooding challenge along Gashua Road,” Buni said.

The Works Commissioner, Engr. Umar Dudaye, assured that his ministry’s engineers are monitoring each phase of construction to ensure compliance and value for money. Contractors on site pledged to deliver the project within the agreed timeframe.

At the Damaturu–Gambir Road project, Governor Buni emphasized the road’s economic importance, particularly for farming communities.“Many agricultural communities have struggled for years to transport their produce to Damaturu. This road will open up markets and ease their hardship,” he explained, noting that earthworks had been completed and overlaying had begun.

Representative of Elegance Construction, Engr. Modu Bukar, confirmed that the road would be ready for use within the next nine weeks.

Governor Buni’s inspection is part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure quality infrastructure that addresses both urban and rural development needs in Yobe State.
