A Movement is Born: #SahelUnplugged Campaign Officially Launched

Today, on World Environment Day 2025, the Voice of Sahel Climate Initiative launched a bold, month-long environmental campaign titled #SahelUnplugged: Breaking Free from Plastic. This landmark initiative aims to combat plastic pollution across Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe, Zamfara, and beyond.

In a region where plastic waste silently clogs rivers, poisons livestock, and damages farmlands, this campaign is not just timely—it’s urgent.

🌐 What is #SahelUnplugged?

#SahelUnplugged is more than a hashtag. It’s a call for action. Running from June 5 to July 5, 2025, this campaign brings together youth, markets, local leaders, and policymakers in a united front to:

Promote plastic-free alternatives

Inspire policy advocacy

Highlight community solutions

Amplify the voice of the Sahel in the global climate conversation
