Panic has gripped residents and travelers as the vital road stretching from Mararrabar Maigora through Maigora, Sabon Layi Galadima, Fankama, and Faskari to Ƴankara has been completely shut down following a deadly surge in bandit activity.
Yesterday alone, terror struck in broad daylight as heavily armed bandits ambushed unsuspecting road users, shooting four individuals and abducting several others. Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror, with gunshots ringing out and motorists abandoning their vehicles to flee for safety.
“The situation is beyond alarming. We are not safe anymore, not even in broad daylight,” a local trader from Faskari lamented.
Security sources confirmed the shutdown of the route as a temporary measure to safeguard lives while military and police operatives intensify operations in the region.
This road, a lifeline for trade and daily movement in southern Katsina, now lies eerily deserted—marking yet another grim chapter in the state’s ongoing battle with banditry.
As fear spreads and families count their losses, calls are mounting for urgent government intervention and reinforcement of security across Faskari LGA and its surrounding corridors.
More updates to follow as the situation unfolds.
