El-Rufai Drops Political Bombshell in Katsina: “Tinubu Must Go, But Bosun Stays”

Katsina state government

In a stunning declaration that sent shockwaves through the political space, former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday dropped a major hint about a growing coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking at the Arewa TechFest in Katsina, El-Rufai revealed that a key meeting was held just a day earlier at 8 PM, where strategic plans were discussed to “ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos.”

“We are putting a coalition together,” El-Rufai said. “But let me be clear—while we believe change is necessary at the top, we will still keep Bosun Tijani. The Minister is doing good work, and he will stay.”

His comments mark one of the most direct internal criticisms of the Tinubu administration by a prominent northern figure, signaling brewing discontent and a possible North-led political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

The crowd at the tech summit responded with mixed reactions—some with surprise, others with knowing nods, as El-Rufai’s statement echoed the growing mood among disillusioned political blocs in the region.

Political analysts say the message is clear: the 2027 race is heating up—and El-Rufai just lit the fuse.
