The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has greenlit an increase in electricity tariffs specifically for customers in the Band A category.
At a press briefing in Abuja, Vice Chairman Musliu Oseni announced the tariff adjustment, raising rates from N66 to N225 per kilowatt-hour for Band A customers.
This move comes alongside a reduction in Band A feeders from 800 to under 500, impacting approximately 17% of feeders and 15% of total electricity customers connected to these feeders.
The commission’s April supplementary order allows for a 235 kilowatt-per-hour consumption rate.
Stay tuned for more updates on how this tariff adjustment will affect consumers and the electricity sector as a whole.
