In a major breakthrough against financial fraud, the Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old suspected fraudster, Sanusi Ahmed of Sokoto Rima Quarters, notorious for distributing counterfeit foreign currency across the state.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives raided Ahmed’s residence on May 8 at about 4:00 pm, where they uncovered a cache of fake currency and suspicious items believed to aid in illicit activities.
Recovered items include: 345 pieces of counterfeit $100 U.S. bills (worth $34,500), Five fake 10,000 CFA notes, Two bottles containing suspected criminal charms, An empty perfume bottle, and A white cloth believed to be used in ritualistic acts.
Police say the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to track down his accomplices.
Commending the operatives, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, praised the collaborative efforts between the police and residents, stressing that the command remains resolute in stamping out all forms of crime.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Police Public Relations Officer, urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
