Nigeria’s CDS Joins World Leaders at Red Square for 80th Victory Day Wreath-Laying Ceremony

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff CDS stood shoulder to shoulder with global military leaders on Thursday, May 8, 2025, as he participated in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Moscow’s iconic Red Square to mark the 80th Victory Day of the Russian Federation.

Held at 0900 hrs (GMT+3), the event honoured the memory of Russian heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II. Over 40 international delegations—comprising 32 heads of government—attended the historic commemoration.

Accompanying the CDS were the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General UA Yusuf, and the Principal General Staff Officer to the CDS, Brigadier General Obinna Azuikpe. Together, they paid tribute on behalf of Nigeria in a powerful show of solidarity and respect.
