The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has scored a major victory against kidnapping syndicates with the arrest of six suspected kidnappers linked to planned abductions in Eket.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives launched a well-coordinated operation that began with the arrest of Joseph Alafia in Oron on May 6. His arrest led to swift raids in Afia Nsit Eket, where five additional suspects were apprehended: Oyibo Ayibakumo Brown (Bayelsa State), Wisdom Harry and Afanye Igonikon (Rivers State), Dare Olaniyi (Ogun State, resident in Port Harcourt) and Tita Mercy Masume (Cameroon)
Recovered from the suspects was a Lexus RX 300 SUV with plate number KMR 491 AE, suspected to be used for their criminal operations, along with five mobile phones.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, praised the operatives’ swift response and reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all Akwa Ibom residents.
All suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations deepen into recent kidnapping cases in the region.
