Abuja Drama: Two Co-Wives Hospitalised After Competing with ‘Kayan Mata’ to Win Husband’s Love

Katsina state government

In a twist of marital rivalry turned medical emergency, two co-wives in Abuja have landed in the hospital after allegedly overdosing on kayan mata, a popular aphrodisiac, in a desperate bid to sexually outshine each other and reclaim their husband’s affection—after he took a third wife.

According to eyewitnesses in the Gwagwalada area, the first and second wives, whose names are being withheld for privacy, reportedly consumed a cocktail of herbal enhancers believed to boost intimacy performance and male attention. The women, who had coexisted peacefully for years, began showing signs of distress just days after the arrival of the new bride.

Sources close to the family revealed that the two older wives, feeling threatened by the younger wife’s presence, separately sought advice from local vendors known for selling kayan mata products, with one even mixing multiple brands at once.

“They were both trying to be more attractive to the man, hoping to bring him back to their beds,” a neighbor disclosed. “But instead of love, it landed them in the hospital.”

Medical officials at the hospital confirmed that the women were admitted for complications linked to ingesting unknown substances and are currently in stable condition.

The husband, a local businessman, has refused to speak to the press, but sources say he is “in shock and overwhelmed” by the incident.

This bizarre love triangle gone wrong has sparked renewed concern over the unregulated use of sexual enhancers and the growing competition among co-wives in polygamous homes.
