2027 Builds Up: Jama’are Council ex-Chairman, Wabi Kill By Son’s Friend

A principal suspect, Faruk Malami in connection with the killing of Mr. Isa Mohammed Wabi, an ex-Council Chairman of Jama’are Local Government, has been arrested by operatives of the Bauchi state police command.

said preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, aged 24 years.

CSP Ahmed Wakil explained that security operatives have Thursday found Mr. Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former Chairman of Jama’are LGA, in critical condition due to injuries sustained in the attack, in the vicinity of his residence at Fadamar Mada quarters of Bauchi metropolis.

“On the early morning of 2nd May 2025, at about 0403 hours, the police command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan concerning an incident involving an attack by a group of youths at Fadaman Mada, located behind government girls secondary school Bauchi”.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil recalled that in response to the distress call by the samaritan, a dedicated team of officers was dispatched to the scene of the incident.

“The investigation suggests that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 0300 hours and subsequently conspired to assault Mr. Wabi. He sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck’.

The police spokesperson said in a press statement that the victim was promptly evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi for urgent medical attention.

Relatedly, one of the suspects, Ajebo, according to the spokesperson, was found unconscious at the scene, likely due to retaliatory action from an enraged individual, and was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakil stated that,
Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been taken into custody for questioning and has cooperated, providing valuable information to the police authorities.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Police Command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice, Wakil assured.

He disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu had visited the deceased house, extended the Command’s condolences to the families affected by the tragic event.

The press statement added that the commissioner of police has assured family of the victim that his command will pursue diligent investigation to find those responsible for the grievous act.
