Towering flames and thick black smoke are sweeping across forested areas near Jerusalem, inching dangerously close to key Israeli military bases. As the fires rage unchecked, authorities have launched an all-out emergency response to prevent what could become a national security disaster.
Eyewitnesses report scenes of chaos and panic as fire crews battle the inferno under blistering heat and shifting winds. “It was like watching hell descend on the hills,” said Miriam Elbaz, a resident of a nearby village. “We had to leave everything behind and just run.”
Military sources have confirmed that precautionary evacuations are underway at sensitive installations. “Our troops are on high alert. We are protecting critical infrastructure while assisting emergency services,” said IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Nir Danon. “The situation is evolving rapidly.”
Firefighting aircraft and ground crews have been deployed in large numbers, but officials warn the terrain and dry conditions are making containment difficult. “These are not ordinary fires,” said Eitan Barak, head of Jerusalem’s emergency response team. “They’re aggressive, fast, and dangerously close to major defense facilities.”
The Prime Minister’s Office has convened an emergency security meeting as investigations begin into the origin of the fires. While natural causes remain likely, authorities say all scenarios are being examined, including potential acts of arson or sabotage.
As the flames creep closer to the capital and military zones, the nation holds its breath, hoping efforts to halt the firestorm succeed before disaster strikes.
