Katsina state government

Troops of the Nigerian Army, under Operation FANSAR YANMA, have successfully rescued 71 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara State following a coordinated operation with local security outfits.

The incident occurred on the night of April 28 along the Faru–Janbako Road in Maradun Local Government Area, when a truck transporting 80 passengers from Niger State to Sabon Birni in Sokoto State was ambushed by suspected armed bandits at Tungan Na-Yarchiga.

Security sources confirmed that all passengers were initially taken by force into the forest by the attackers. In response, a combined team comprising military personnel, police officers, members of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (ZFSCPG), and local vigilantes known as Yansakai launched an immediate rescue mission.
