Kidnapped Kaduna Pastor Regains Freedom, Reunites With Family

Katsina state government

Reverend Father Ibrahim James, a 55-year-old Catholic priest serving at Kurmin Rizga in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has regained his freedom after a harrowing kidnap ordeal.

Sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama that Father James was released unhurt on Friday, April 25, 2025, and has since been joyfully reunited with his family.

It remains unclear whether a ransom was paid or if his release was secured through a non-kinetic approach.

The abduction, which took place on April 24, had triggered swift action by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division, working alongside other security agencies, who intensified efforts to track down the kidnappers.

Father James’ safe return has been met with widespread relief across the Kurmin Rizga community and beyond, as prayers and solidarity poured in during his captivity.

Security operations in the area are said to be ongoing as authorities continue their hunt for the perpetrators behind the attack.
