The Katsina State Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Dr. Yakubu Musa Hassan, has raised alarm over the rising trend of negative and mischievous remarks targeting Islamic scholars, particularly on social media platforms.
Speaking to journalists in Katsina, Sheikh Dr. Yakubu expressed deep concern over what he described as a growing culture of verbal attacks against Ulamas, stressing that such behavior contradicts the teachings of Islam and the noble example of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
He warned those sponsoring or engaging in such actions to fear Allah and remember that they will be held accountable in the hereafter for every word spoken against religious leaders.
“It is regrettable that some individuals now fund unpatriotic youth to insult Islamic scholars for selfish interests,” he said. “This is a dangerous trend that only tarnishes the image of Islam.”
Sheikh Yakubu also called on youths to seek both Islamic and western education not merely for white-collar jobs, but as a means to earn a dignified living and contribute positively to society.
In a message to traders, the cleric urged them to fear Allah by reducing the prices of essential goods to ease the burden on the masses during these trying times.
He also reminded political and community leaders that they will be accountable before Allah for how they manage the affairs of the people.
The JIBWIS Chairman concluded with prayers for peace and progress in Katsina State and Nigeria at large, while emphasizing the importance of unity among Islamic scholars to strengthen the development of the religion.
