In a swift and courageous midnight operation, Katsina State Police Command foiled a kidnapping attempt along the notorious Funtua-Gusau highway, rescuing ten travelers from the clutches of armed bandits.
The incident occurred at Marabar Bangori village around 9:35 PM on April 19, when two vehicles—a black Golf Saloon and an ash-colored Golf—were ambushed while traveling from Katsina to Faskari. Alerted to the unfolding danger, officers from the Faskari Division raced to the scene, engaging the gunmen in a fierce exchange of fire.
The bandits, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the police, fled into the nearby bush, abandoning their sinister mission. All ten victims—two drivers and eight passengers—were rescued unharmed.
Commending the officers for their swift response and bravery, Commissioner of Police CP Bello Shehu praised the team’s professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to crush criminal elements threatening the peace of Katsina State.
Investigations are ongoing, and efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects continue.
