The Yobe State Government led by the visionary administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, has procured 2,000 metric tons of assorted grains to bolster food security and ensure preparedness for the off-season.
In a statement by Yusuf Ali the SSA digital and strategic communications to the governor Buni said, The Honorable Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, conducted an inspection of the grains at the Agricultural Development Program (ADP) and Gujba Road stores in Damaturu.
Speaking to journalists during the inspection, Ali Mustapha Goniri expressed optimism about the initiative, emphasizing that the grains will be distributed to Yobeans during emergencies or off-season periods to mitigate food shortages.
In addition to the grains, the commissioner revealed that the government has procured assorted agrochemicals to support irrigation farming and vegetable cultivation.
He further announced plans to distribute cassava stems to farmers across the state, aiming to revive cassava farming. Cassava, he noted, is a versatile crop used for flour production, medicinal purposes, and natural food ingredients.
The commissioner commended the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, for its unwavering commitment and support toward developing the agricultural sector in Yobe State.
The inspection team included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr. Muhammed Inuwa Gulani, as well as directors and other ministry officials.
This initiative underscores the Yobe State Government’s dedication to enhancing food security and empowering farmers across the state.
