A pre-dawn tragedy struck the Abaji-Gwagwalada Expressway on April 10, 2025, as four lives were lost in a fatal collision involving a Dangote Cement Howo truck and an Iveco trailer.
The accident, which occurred around 3:30 a.m., turned deadly when the Howo truck rammed into the moving trailer, igniting a fire that engulfed the truck and claimed the lives of all four occupants, who were burnt beyond recognition.
Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama that the Iveco trailer, bearing registration number T-0497KT and driven by Ibrahim Musa from Katsina State, veered off the highway into nearby bushland. The driver and a passenger survived the impact but sustained varying injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at Abaji General Hospital.
The charred remains of the victims have been released to their families for burial in line with Islamic rites.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash as the nation mourns yet another deadly road incident.
