Contrary to the false reports, Niger remains actively involved in counterterrorism operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP. In fact, Niger recently invited Nigerian forces to coordinate an operation against ISWAP militants in Chettimari following a terrorist attack on a military base.
While Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso exited ECOWAS in early 2025, this move does not affect their participation in the MNJTF, which is under the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
