A notorious kidnapper, identified as Garba, who had been on the wanted list of security agencies, has been arrested and subsequently killed while attempting to escape in Borno.
Police sources revealed that Garba was apprehended in Gombi Town, Adamawa State, on March 26 at about 12:00 p.m. in a coordinated operation by a joint patrol team comprising police operatives and professional hunters. His arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to multiple kidnappings in the region.
During preliminary investigations, Garba admitted to possessing a locally made AK-47 rifle and a locally made pistol, both of which were recovered by security forces.
However, as he was being transported to the police station, Garba made a daring attempt to escape. In response, security personnel opened fire, hitting him. He was rushed to Cottage Hospital, Gombi, where doctors confirmed his death.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to flushing out criminals and have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
