FCT Police Arrest Woman for Attempting to Sell 3 Year-Old Son

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Police Command has arrested a woman for allegedly attempting to sell her three-year-old son for ₦1.5 million in Abuja.

Police sources confirmed that the suspect, identified as Hana Yusuf of Kpaduma II Village, sought out a resident, Isaac Tom, on March 18, 2025, asking for his help in finding a buyer for her child. Shocked by the request, Tom immediately alerted the Asokoro Police Division.

Acting on the tip, police operatives swiftly launched a sting operation. ASP Promise Gandi, posing as a potential buyer, arranged a meeting with the suspect. When she arrived at the location, officers moved in and arrested her, successfully rescuing the child.

Investigations confirmed that the boy, Yusuf Ibrahim, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mariam Ibrahim of Kpaduma II, Guzape. Authorities have since reunited him with his parents, while the suspect remains in custody.

Police say further investigations are ongoing, and Yusuf will be charged in court upon completion of the inquiry. The case highlights the urgent need to tackle child trafficking and strengthen community vigilance in protecting vulnerable children.
