The Special Adviser on Security Matters to His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Retd), has reiterated the state government commitment to enhancing security and ensuring the safety of all residents of Yobe State.
Speaking in Damaturu on Monday, General Abdulsalam emphasized that the state government remains unwavering in its efforts to combat insecurity, protect lives and property, and foster a peaceful environment for economic growth and social development. He assured citizens that Governor Buni’s administration is actively working with security agencies to sustain peace and stability across the state.
“Security is the backbone of any prosperous society, and under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, we are leaving no stone unturned in making Yobe State safe for everyone,” General Abdulsalam stated. “We have strengthened collaboration with security forces, traditional rulers, and community leaders to ensure effective intelligence gathering and prompt responses to security threats.”
Brigadier General Abdulsalam highlighted the strategic measures taken by the government, including increased deployment of security personnel, intelligence-driven operations, and community engagement programs aimed at tackling criminal activities such as insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping.
He urged citizens to actively participate in security efforts by reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the authorities. He noted that collective vigilance is essential in preventing security breaches and ensuring that criminal elements do not find refuge in any part of the state.
“Our security agencies are working tirelessly, but we also need the support of the public. Security is a shared responsibility, and timely information from residents can make a significant difference in preventing crime,” he added.
As Yobe State continues to recover from past security challenges, General Abdulsalam called on citizens to embrace peace and unity. He encouraged religious and community leaders to continue preaching tolerance and understanding among different groups, emphasizing that harmony is key to long-term stability.
“Governor Buni’s administration has made remarkable strides in rebuilding communities affected by insecurity, restoring social services, and empowering the people. It is our collective duty to ensure that peace is maintained so that these developmental gains are not reversed,” he said.
With the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, General Abdulsalam advised the people of Yobe to remain vigilant and celebrate responsibly. He warned against reckless behavior that could compromise public safety and urged residents to cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state.
“The Sallah festivities are a time of joy and thanksgiving, but we must not let our guard down. I urge all residents to be mindful of their surroundings and report any unusual activities to security forces. We must work together to safeguard our communities,” he stated.
Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Governor Buni’s vision for a secure, peaceful, and prosperous Yobe State. He assured residents that the government remains proactive in addressing security challenges and providing lasting solutions for the safety and well-being of all.
“I want to assure the good people of Yobe State that security remains our top priority. Let us continue to support our security agencies, stay united, and work towards a brighter, more secure future for our state,” he concluded.
