Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully rescued 101 kidnapped victims in coordinated operations across Kankara, Katsina State, and Shinkafi, Zamfara State. The operations, conducted on March 17 and 18, 2025, also led to the neutralisation of 10 terrorists in a fierce encounter in Faru District, Maradun LGA.
The rescue mission began in Katsina State, where troops launched a deliberate assault on a terrorist stronghold at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara LGA. The surprise attack resulted in the elimination of three terrorists and the rescue of 84 kidnapped individuals, who have since been handed over to local authorities.
In Zamfara State, acting on intelligence, troops advanced on a terrorist camp in Bagabuzu, Faru District, Maradun LGA, where seven terrorists were neutralised. A motorcycle and other items were recovered from the scene. Additionally, 17 hostages abducted by a notorious terrorist kingpin were freed from captivity in Tsibiri and Doka villages, Shinkafi LGA. The rescued victims are currently receiving medical care.
Operation Fansan Yamma remains committed to restoring security in Katsina and Zamfara States. Security forces urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperative, emphasizing that community support is crucial in the fight against terrorism.
