The Theatre Commander (TC) Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA JTF OPFY, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, has emphasized the need for enhanced inter-agency collaboration in tackling security threats across the North-West. He made this call during his maiden operational visit to Headquarters Sector 1 OPFY in Kaduna, where he was received by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 OPFY, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso.
During the visit, Major General Saraso provided a comprehensive briefing on the operational successes and challenges faced by troops in the field. He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements within the sector’s area of responsibility.
Commending the efforts of the Sector’s commanders, Major General Soyele acknowledged the significant impact of coordinated military operations, attributing the decline in banditry and terrorism to a blend of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies. He urged sustained synergy with other security agencies to further strengthen ongoing efforts.
The TC also stressed the importance of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives, such as free medical outreach programs and educational support, as vital tools in fostering trust with local communities. He further cautioned against lapses that could lead to the loss of military equipment to adversaries and assured that additional resources, including operational vehicles and manpower, would be sought to boost the sector’s effectiveness.
The visit concluded with a signing of the visitors’ book and a group photograph, attended by key officers from both the Theatre Command and 1 Division Headquarters.
