Former Governor of Sokoto State and ex-Presidential candidate, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has dismissed reports claiming he has joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), describing them as false and misleading.

Bafarawa, through his media aide, Dr. Abubakar Umar, clarified in Sokoto on Tuesday that he had neither granted any media interview nor consulted with any political group regarding defection.

“We are investigating the roots and circumstances behind this misinformation,” he stated, urging journalists to uphold ethical reporting.

Quoting his aide, Dr. Umar: “Ramadan is a month of fasting, gratitude to Allah for His blessings, and a time for the wealthy to support the less fortunate in society. It is a season for sharing food, not spreading rumors.”

Bafarawa had previously distanced himself from active partisan politics, choosing instead to align with grassroots development initiatives.
