Operatives of the Taraba State Police Command have arrested two suspected criminals linked to the cold-blooded killing of a police officer and a civilian in Wukari.
Acting on credible intelligence, a tactical team—led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO)—conducted a high-stakes operation between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on March 6, 2025. The team, in collaboration with local hunters, ambushed the suspects along a bush path behind Federal University Wukari, leading to their capture.
The arrested suspects were identified as:
Godwin Ajaver 28 from Abako, Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue State and Austin Emmanuel 25 from Jootar, Ukum LGA, Benue State
Confession and Ongoing Investigation
During interrogation, Ajaver admitted to being part of the gang that murdered Police Corporal Ahmadu Yusuf (F/No. 517607) and Gaddafi Saidu on February 25, 2025. However, he denied direct involvement in the attack.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel was allegedly recruited into the gang by Ajaver and was arrested while trying to join the group. Though the suspects were unarmed at the time of arrest, Ajaver is reportedly cooperating with investigators, revealing crucial details about the gang’s identities and hideouts.
Police authorities have assured the public that further arrests will follow as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle the criminal network and bring all perpetrators to justice.
