The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC joined the global community in commemorating International Civil Defence Day 2025, underscoring its unwavering commitment to safety, security, and disaster response.
The celebration began with a special Juma’at prayer at the Juma’at Mosque, GRA Katsina, on Friday, February 28, 2025. This was followed by a fitness walk on Saturday, March 1, 2025, which started from the State Command Headquarters at Gidan Dawa, passing through key city landmarks before returning to the Command.
Speaking at the grand event held today at the NSCDC Katsina Command Headquarters, Commandant of Corps Aminu Datti Ahmad fsf, MADM emphasized the crucial role of Civil Defence in safeguarding lives, protecting critical national assets, and mitigating disasters. He reiterated that this year’s theme, “Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security for the Population,” reflects the Corps’ dedication under the leadership of the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR.
Commandant Ahmad highlighted the strategic initiatives of the NSCDC, including:
Disaster mitigation and emergency response,Enhanced security collaboration with stakeholders and Protection of critical infrastructure also Community engagement to tackle emerging security threats
He called on communities to strengthen their cooperation with NSCDC, stressing that collective efforts are vital in addressing security challenges.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge by NSCDC personnel to uphold their duty of protecting lives and properties across Katsina State and beyond.
