The Gwagwaren Katsina Peace and Unity Cup, hailed as the best football assembly in Northern Nigeria, reached its thrilling conclusion on Friday, 28th February 2025, in Katsina State, with a staggering ₦50 million prize pool.
The competition, organized by Dikko Radda Door to Door Youth and Sports Mobilization Awareness under the leadership of DG DIKKO SPORT MOVEMENT, Alh. Abubakar Sani, saw Durbi Strikers edge past Junior Commassie with a 1-0 victory in the final. Earlier, KKT secured third place after defeating Kangiwa United in a penalty shootout following a 3-3 draw.
Prize Breakdown:
- 1st Position – Durbi Strikers: ₦5 million
- 2nd Position – Junior Commassie: ₦3 million
- 3rd Position – KKT: ₦2 million
Additionally, 128 teams received ₦50,000 and two footballs each as part of the initiative to promote grassroots football.
Beyond football, the competition extended financial support to orphans who lost their parents while backing sports development in Katsina State.
The tournament, spanning Daura, Funtua, and Katsina, received backing from top government officials, including the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Commissioner of Water Resources, and the Special Adviser on Rural Development.

The Gwagwaren Katsina Peace and Unity Cup not only showcased young football talent but also strengthened community ties and reaffirmed Katsina’s commitment to sports excellence.
