Armed bandits unleashed terror on Gidan Sule and Kwana Doka villages in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing three residents and leaving two others critically injured.
The coordinated attacks, which occurred around 10:00 p.m. on February 23, saw the assailants storm the villages with heavy gunfire, setting several houses ablaze. According to intelligence sources, three people were shot dead in Gidan Sule, while two individuals in Kwana Doka sustained severe gunshot wounds and were rushed to General Hospital, Funtua, for urgent medical attention.
In a swift response, a Police Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Patrol Team mobilized to intercept the attackers at the Unguwar Ali/Kwankiro axis. A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to retreat into the forest.
The latest attack underscores the growing insecurity in Katsina State, as residents call for intensified military operations to curb the menace of banditry.
