The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a bandit attack along the Dutsinma-Kurfi highway in Dutsinma LGA, neutralizing one suspected armed bandit while others fled with gunshot wounds.
According to the command, a distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters at approximately 12:57 a.m., reporting that suspected armed bandits had launched an attack on Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers on duty.
In response, police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle. The officers’ superior firepower forced the attackers to retreat, preventing what could have been a deadly ambush. While scanning the area after the confrontation, security operatives recovered the lifeless body of one of the suspected bandits.
Authorities have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the fleeing criminals, urging residents to report any suspicious persons with gunshot wounds.
The Katsina State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring the public that efforts to rid the state of criminal elements remain a top priority.
