Peugeot Roars Back: 508 Joins the Comeback Trail

After years of dominance in Nigeria’s auto industry from the 1980s to the early 1990s, the Peugeot brand is set for a grand return. With the introduction of the 508 to follow the success of the 301, the iconic French automaker is poised to reclaim its place in the market.

At the heart of this revival is Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (DPAN), which boasts the capacity to assemble 120 Peugeot vehicles daily in two shifts. Industry expert Isa Gachi is optimistic that DPAN’s operations will gradually restore Peugeot to its former glory.

Once the flagship brand of Nigerian roads, Peugeot’s reign was disrupted by economic downturns and inconsistent policies, which opened the floodgates for fully built-up Asian imports. However, with renewed local production efforts, the roaring lion is ready to dominate again.
