Varsity Don Tasks FG On Practical Solutions Against Nigeria’s Economic Expansion

A political scientist, Prof. Shehu Liberty on Monday canvassed the need for the Federal Government to adopt practical solutions that leverage Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieving the country’s economic expansion.

Liberty, who is also the Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) made the suggestion at a Pre Conference briefing for the 2rd International Conference of the faculty, slated for February 13 in Maiduguri.

He said,” Nigeria is a key player in the global community and cannot afford to lag behind in Sustainable Development. The SDGs are practical roadmaps for radiating poverty, improving education, ensuring clean energy and creating resilient economic systems.”

Liberty said this year’s conference was multidisciplinary and was expected to facilitate the exchange of ideas across discplines, which would foster collaboration and innovation.

He, however, urged stakeholders to fully participate in the conference and contribute their expertise towards achieving actionable outcome.

“The main objective of this conference is to foster intellectual discourse and practical solutions that leverage the SDGs to attain economic expansion,” Liberty said.

He said that the conference theme is “Harnessing Sustainable Development Goals towards Expanding Solutions.”

While noting that the conference would play a significant role for academic and research in universities globally, Liberty hinted that a keynote address would be delivered by Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, a renowned Cyber Security expert and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
