Security Boost: 45 Suspects Nabbed in Katsina Raid

The Katsina State Police Command has made major breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with 45 arrests, the rescue of 85 kidnapped victims, and the recovery of 213 rustled animals in January 2025.

Addressing journalists at a press briefing, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, commended officers for their relentless efforts, highlighting the arrest of armed robbers, homicide suspects, and informants aiding bandits. Eleven suspected bandits were neutralized in various operations.

Crackdown on Kidnappers
In a major anti-kidnapping operation, two suspects, Yahaya Sani (45) and Ikra Aminu (22), were arrested for abducting two minors in Faskari LGA and demanding ₦6 million ransom. Police tracked their phone calls, leading to their capture, while their accomplices remain at large.

Shocking Crimes: Attempted Murder and Bestiality
One Umar Lawal (18) of GRA, Katsina, was arrested for attempting to poison a victim’s food. Shockingly, investigations revealed he had committed bestiality on three occasions, violating Section 214 of the Penal Code.

Cable Vandals and Thieves Busted
Two syndicates of suspected cable thieves and vandals operating in Batagarawa and Mashi LGAs were dismantled. Five suspects were arrested with large quantities of stolen armoured cables, while two accomplices remain on the run.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for their support in strengthening security efforts. He assured residents that the Command would intensify operations to ensure a safer Katsina State.
