In a daring midnight operation, operatives of the Katsina State Police Command foiled a kidnap attempt in Maibakko village, Sabuwa Local Government Area, rescuing 13 victims from armed bandits.

The attack, which occurred at about 1:43 a.m. on February 6, 2025, saw heavily armed bandits storming the village, shooting sporadically and abducting residents. Responding swiftly to a distress call, police operatives engaged the assailants in a fierce gunfight, forcing them to flee and leaving the captives behind.

Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in the attack, while another sustained injuries. The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while security operatives intensify efforts to track down the fleeing bandits and ensure the safe rescue of any remaining captives.

Katsina State Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting citizens and bringing criminals to justice.
